Group Tours of the cottage can be arranged outside normal opening days and hours with daytime and evening bookings available during the months of April to September.

A guided tour takes approximately one hour and our Volunteer Guides will tell you the history of the simple brick cottage and about the life of Hilda Craven, who was born in Queen Victoria's reign and lived in Navenby until her death in 1995 at the age of 102.

A non-refundable booking fee of £5.00 is required and an additional entry fee of £2.00 per adult is payable on arrival. Children under 16 are free and must be accompanied by an adult.

In addition to your Group Visit, we can arrange a speaker to attend one of your regular group meetings to present a talk entitled 'Mrs Smith's Cottage - from Cottage to Museum'. This is highly recommended. It offers a glimpse behind the scenes of how a mid 19th century cottage in Navenby has been made into a registered museum and shows something of the character of Mrs Hilda Smith who lived there until the age of 102.

Your visit to Mrs Smith's Cottage can also include a guided tour (approximately 1 hour) of our local St. Peter's Church which is known locally as 'The Cathedral on the Cliff'. It is a combination of Medieval and Victorian work begun in 1172 with Norman influence.
The church tour is free but donations are most welcome.

While in Navenby you can also enjoy the Village Walk, a self guided tour of many of the oldest and interesting buildings in the village. The walk takes about 45 minutes. A booklet describing the features can be provided in advance of your visit (price 50p).
