Mrs Smith was a keen gardener and recorded many entries in her diaries relating to the cycle of the seasons and the various plants growing at the cottage. In earlier days, before the land was taken over for new housing, she also maintained an allotment about 100 yards further along East Road to grow her own vegetables.

We are fortunate to have a volunteer with an M.Sc in horticulture who maintains the current garden in the style and fashion that Mrs Smith would have recognised.

From time to time, we have Plant Sales to raise funds and hope to continue this programme in 2012.
